Learning Lucid Dreaming – Day 21: Second Lucid Dream!

I had my second lucid dream this morning and I remember a lot from it.

I was in a weird cruise ship when all of the sudden everything feels out of place and I realize I’m dreaming.

I did a dream test by putting my right index finger through my left palm and it went through. I’m officially lucid dreaming!

As I was doing this I realized that with all of my excitement my dream was fading. I’ve read that if you spin around really quick the dream will strengthen, so I spun as hard as I could.

After spinning I teleported to my childhood home and explored a little bit. Digital clocks looked normal but books were impossible to read. The text was all random characters which pulsed and flashed on and off the page like a strobe light.

I remember being kind of underwhelmed, like I didn’t know what to do next. It’s weird, I have a list of things I’m excited to try, like flying, eating different food, and spawning objects. There are so many things I want to do, but for some reason I couldn’t think of what I wanted to do next so I just walked around and explored.

Eventually my dad appeared and I asked him if I was dreaming. He seemed like he didn’t want to answer the question. When I pressed him he stumbled over his words and wouldn’t make eye contact and eventually admitted that I was dreaming. It was like he felt he had been lying to me by not telling me before. Then I woke up.

I’ve read different experiences of people pressing dream characters about being in a dream – and there are a ton of different reactions. I wonder if pressing the issue is what caused me to wake up?

A few things that surprised me about my lucid dream

  1. I didn’t have as much control as I thought I would – I thought I would be able to do anything I wanted, go wherever I wanted and control everything. Not only was I not able to control much, I couldn’t think of all of the possibilities that I know are available. I think this is because I’m so new to it. I imagine my next dream will involve more control.
  2. Pushing my index finger through my palm wasn’t what I expected – I’ve been doing that dream test for the past 21 days thinking that when I was in a dream my finger would go through my hand like butter, but in practice I had to apply a lot of pressure. And even then my finger only came through to about the fingernail. I didn’t really force it too hard though because I didn’t want to over excite myself or push the boundaries too hard and wake up.
  3. The dream world is crystal clear – I imagined that the dream world would be a little hazy or foggy or distorted in some way, but that wasn’t the case. It looked like waking reality looks like. There were times where I wasn’t sure I was dreaming until I did my reality check. Also, the instant I woke up from the dream I had to do a couple of reality checks because I wasn’t sure if I was still dreaming or not.
